You need to be discovered, you can always send in demo’s. but they get so many that in all honesty most are probably thrown away. Eventually if you’re lucky you may get to open for someone famous, or do something like play on a tour where the bands are good but not quite main stream yet. From there you get noticed, and if you’re lucky, signed. Really what you need is to perform, and have people want to hear you, cause if more and more people are coming, you’re gonna be discovered!!
Best of luck References :
Play a lot of shows, talk to fans, talk to other bands, meet a lot of people. You never know, producers and label owners go to concerts too, so they might be in the crowd listening. When your band/you play, put your all into it because you never know who might be playing.
The more you network, the more people you will meet. USE MYSPACE. Label owners DO surf myspace–that’s how a lot of bands/artists do actually get discovered.
Talk to signed bands/artists to hear what their stories are. But you need to play a lot, need to post out your band as much as possible. References : Friends in the record industry.
Apparently Record labels dont do Demos anymore.
What I am going to do is, Upload my music to Myspace then just wait.
Most A&R labels look through Myspace for the next best thing.
Or you could message Myspace Records to take a look at your music. References : Awesome Power and Knowledge of my Smartarse-ness.

You need to know the right people.
