i’m just now starting college and i’m really interested in getting a job with a record label, what should i do?

i just need to know what kind of stuff i should be doing, i want to eventually do an internship for a record label, or just any kind of music company, and eventually land a job with a record label, what kind of things should i be doing?
Because almost everyone is now buying their music online, the music industry is suffering big time and is laying off people by the thousands. Here in LA, there are many thousand laid off people with record labels that have tons of experience and will grab any openings there are before you will be considered for them. Same for real estate.
Do not try to get into a dying industry.
