Wat r record labels? (in music)?

Wat all the jive,BMG,Sony
Pretty board question…but "record labels" are companies inside the big distribution company. For example, Universal is the big company but they marketing and distribute such "records labels" as DefJam
,Rocafella,Interscope,Motown to name a few.
They are millions of "record labels" but only a few are distributes via the big company. Last thing there are only 4 big companies/distribution WEA,SonyBmg,Universal,EMI

They are different companies that produce the cd’s etc. For example Sony is a company, and they pay the musicians, and sell the records.

They are the ones who produce the songs you hear.
An artist makes a song an pitches it to a Label, if they like it they will sign them up for a contract for the sake of arguement say 2 albums.
Meaning they will give you the funds and personal needed to make those albbums and then help publicise it and manufactuer it. For a healthy percentage of profits of course.

RECORD LABELS ARE THE BRAND NAMES OF THE MANY RECORD COMPANIES. I THINK.

If you get signed to a record label, they will let you record your music for a certain amount of time. After you get a record deal you need to get a distribution deal, so you can make copies of your cd.

It’s the name of the company that the artist is signed to and who release the singles and albums
